Karen's Story
Life
Well, here I am... 30 years out of high school... I have 6 dogs, Pixie, Pugsley, Hoss, Studley, Lola and Chi Chi & a cockatiel named Sparky... four kids (Garrett-24, Curtis-24-deceased, Cheston-21, and Lacey-20). I married my husband, Terry, in 1975 and we were married for 15 years. We split up and I married Chester McElhaney. We were married 10 years when he passed away. Realizing what was important in life, I remarried my high school sweetheart, Terry, again! We've been married 4 years this time, for a total of 19 or so!
I worked for the Dallas Mavericks for six years (1996 - 2002) and currently work for the American Airlines Center as the group marketing manager. After working in the sports and entertainment industry, I just don't enjoy the corporate world anymore.
My daughter, Lacey, is a Dallas Desperado's dancer and is currently a college student. Both my mom and stepdad live with me - and boy, I never would have thought that would happen. My mom has ...Expand for more
Alzheimer's and doesn't know any of us anymore and both my parents require care 24/7. Just when you think you've got your kids raised and it's time to enjoy the "empty nest" with your spouse - and you get your parents. I wouldn't trade it for the world though... and I'm blessed that they are both still living. (sadly, my stepdad passed away this week (7/11/06) at 90 years old - if you ever lived in or near Mesquite, my stepdad (Pat Patten) was the roller skating pro at Broadway Skateland for many years... all of us who grew up at the skating rink have permanent rail marks on our backsides from "sitting on the rail" for going too fast!
The last four years have been pretty rough - particularly the last month (May 28th), when I lost my stepson, Curtis, to a killer's bullets. God is so good though and His peace keeps me sane.
Stop by MySpace (queenomedia) and see some photos... shoot me an email. I'd love to hear from some old friends - school, work, or otherwise!
